Who Are We?
Welcome to the homepage of the Exercise psychology Laboratory (EPL) in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health of the University of Illinois. The EPL is directed by Professor Edward McAuley and has its focus on the study of determinants and consequences of physical activity behavior across the lifespan.
Research conducted in the EPL employs a social cognitive perspective to examine how social, physiological, behavioral, and psychological factors influence and are influenced by physical activity across the lifespan - current projects involve older adults, college students, and children. The primary outcomes of interest in our work are physical activity, psychological health, physical function, and quality of life.
