Susie's interests include the design and implementation of community-based physical activity and sedentary behavior interventions in older adults, specifically older Latinos. Her dissertation work focused on assessing the feasibility and impact of a Latin dance program among older Latinos with mild cognitive impairment. As a result of this research, Susie is also interested in examining the impact of sedentary behavior on cognition among individuals with cognitive impairment and dementia related diseases.
Susie completed her Ph.D. In Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in July 2016. She also completed her M.S. and B.S. in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
